City descritpion
Rotterdam is situated at the mouth of the river Rhine and has the biggest seaport of Europe. Apart from the skyscrapers which were beginning to dominate the skyline during the last decades, the city is also home to a selection of renowned museums, historic places and architectural highlights.
Museum Boijmans van Beuningen
The collections of the largest art museum of the city includes paintings and sculptures of old masters such as Rembrandt, van Gogh and Picasso.
Euromast
The 185 meter high observation tower was built for the Floriade in 1960 and offers a fantastic view of the city and the surroundings.
Delfshaven
The historic quarter is situated around a small port at the river Nieuwe Maas and offers a number of restaurants and bars. The most important sights include the Pilgrim Fathers Church, the history museum "De Dubbelde Palmboom" and the windmill "De Destilleerketel".
